R. Norton, Monumental Masons, was established in Axminster by Roy Norton in the late 1940s.
A workshop and yard was set up at the bottom of Castle Hill, beyond the railway crossing, near Stoney Bridges, where the business still operates today.
Following his retirement in 1989 the business was purchased by Grassby & Sons. Grassby are the longest established family run business of stonemasons in West Dorset, which is now in it's the fifth generation of the Grassby family.
Norton Memorials maintain a reputation for providing high quality memorials in many of the churchyards and cemeteries throughout East Devon, West Dorset and Somerset. They can design and create individual memorials in addition to the standard brochure designs.
The premises at Axminster are open Monday-Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm, where an extensive display of memorials and different materials are on view. A member of staff will be able to discuss your precise requirements in the privacy of the office without any obligation.
The premises can also be open at weekends by appointment only, or if preferred home visits can be arranged.
